Sweet vernal grass is a well-known grass among Estonians. There are many beliefs associated with the plant. The ancients believed that the plant contained magical powers that would help find fortunes and win the love of the desired. Sweet vernal grass was added to bridal bouquets and used in wardrobes and under pillows for its pleasant scent. In addition, it is supposed to help repel moths.

The height of the plant is 10 – 45 cm. Blooms from May to June. Suitable for natural gardens and flower meadows, but can also be grown as a potted plant. It is a winter-hardy perennial. Normal garden soil and a sunny to shady place are suitable for cultivation. Seedlings are grown mildly.
