Pennyroyal is annual to perennial plant with creeping or erect branched stems about 40 cm high. Green to sometimes red or purple in color. It is a short-term perennial, but needs a cover in winter without snow. Grows in a bright to semi-shady place.

Pennyroyal is often used as a pest control. The plant is suitable for seasoning lamb and game meat dishes. It can also be used to make tea, because it has a characteristic mint flavor.
